Frederick + Frederick Architects Selected for House Elevation Project

base flood elevation

A major renovation which includes raising the house above FEMA’s base flood elevation was recently started by Frederick + Frederick Architects on Fripp Island, SC. Wolfe House and Building Movers of Bernville, PA raised the house January 5, 2017. Andy Meloan of A & D Builders of Saint Helenas Island, SC is the general contractor.

When renovation costs are greater than 50% of the value of the house, the first floor has to be raised above the base flood elevation. Jane Frederick, of Frederick + Frederick Architects said, “To many raising a house seems complicated and expensive but often it is much more cost effective. The deciding factor is usually how much of the original house would be retained in the renovation.”

Frederick + Frederick Architects specialize in custom homes for hot, humid climates.
