The famous English garden designer, Gertrude Jekyll, created over 400 gardens in the United Kingdom, Europe and the U.S. She just loved gardens; they were her life. When she decided to build a house, she first spent five years working on the gardens, then hired the architect Edwin Lutyens to put the house where she wanted it. When it was done, the entire property was complete because the gardens were already established.
