Redwoods Design Studio Completes Optician Renovation In Sunnyside, Queens

Redwoods Design Studio announces completion of its design- build renovation for C Clearly, an optician store located at 4814 Skillman Avenue in Sunnyside, Queens. Previously home to a bank, the gut renovation posed an interesting challenge because of the 5’x5’x5’ depository safe weighed as much as 350 pounds that needed to be removed. C Clearly owner Christa Cavallaro held the grand opening of the store, which includes both retail and exam rooms, in July.

Architect Mark Eric Benner Crisscrosses Technology, Sustainability

Architect Mark Benner tells the story of one of his firm’s first projects that started in the depths of the recession as the renovation of a home and detached garage. “It was a collection of sheds behind a house on a property where the owner had a lot of sweat equity. He hand-dug the house’s basement and the couple hoped to make their the whole place more energy efficient during phase two. But first, they wanted a garage in place of the sheds.” Yet Mark approached the project with as much care as he would any of his custom-designed residential projects.
